Recording in the web app
Record your own footage right inside the Mozaik web app — guided by each scene's briefing, straight from your browser.

You can record your own footage directly in the Mozaik web app — no separate app to install and nothing to upload afterwards. A scene guides you through what to capture, you record from your browser, and the clip lands right back in your project, ready to edit or run through an automated pipeline.
Where recording happens
Open a project and select the scene you want to record for. In the scene panel, pick the Footage element to open its options:
Create recording — record now, in your browser (covered here)
Import footage — upload a clip you already have
Request recording of guest — ask someone else to record (see below)
Browse library — reuse footage from your library
To record yourself, choose Create recording.
Read the briefing first
Every recording scene carries a Briefing that tells you what to say or show. Open the Briefing tab for the footage element to read it before you start — many briefings include an example wording to get you going.
Good to know: The scene also sets a recording duration (a minimum and maximum length) under the Duration tab, so your clip fits the video it's part of.
Record from your camera
After Create recording, choose the recording type: Camera or Screen recording. For a talking-head clip, pick Camera.
Your browser will ask for camera and microphone access — allow it, and you'll see a live preview. On the record screen you get:
An on-screen framing guide (the Overlay) to help you position yourself in shot
Toggles for Camera, Microphone, and Overlay, with a chevron on Camera and Microphone to pick which device to use
The maximum length allowed for this recording (for example, Max. 60min)
When you're ready, press Start recording.
Do another take
Not happy with a take? Just record again — creating a new recording replaces the footage on that scene, so you can shoot as many takes as you need until it feels right.
Where your footage lands
Good to know: Your recorded clip drops straight into the scene in your project, ready to edit or run through your automated pipeline. It's also kept in Recordings, your Mozaik Cloud footage library, so you can reuse it later.
Just you, or others too?
This is solo, self-recording in your browser. When you need footage from other people, use a Guest invitation (one person, one project) or a Campaign (many contributors at once) instead — each has its own article.
Built for repeatable video
Recording in the web app is designed to feed a repeatable series: capture a fresh clip for each scene, drop it into the project, and let your automation assemble the finished video. The more videos you produce, the more time that browser-based, no-friction capture saves.
