Adding subtitles and captions to your videos
Generate subtitles automatically, edit and style them, add more languages, and produce a subtitled video — all inside the Mozaik editor.

Subtitles make your videos easier to follow, more accessible, and ready to play without sound on social feeds. Mozaik generates them from your video's audio and lets you edit, style and translate them without leaving the editor — so captioning a whole video series stops being a manual chore.
Open the Subtitles panel
Open your project in the editor and click Subtitles in the top toolbar. From here you generate subtitles, edit and style them, manage languages, and output a subtitled video.
Good to know: Subtitles are created from your finished video's audio and saved as a separate subtitled version, so your original video stays untouched.
Generate subtitles automatically
Click Create subtitles automatically. Mozaik transcribes the spoken audio into timed subtitles for you. As the panel notes, "You can manually edit automatically generated subtitles after they are created." Use the Language selector to set the spoken (source) language before you generate.
Edit or write subtitles manually
Open the Text view to review and fine-tune your subtitles line by line, or click Create subtitles manually to type them from scratch. Each segment carries its own timing, so you control exactly when a line appears, and a character-count guide helps keep every line readable.
Style your captions
Click Open design templates to apply a subtitle style, so your captions match your brand rather than looking like a generic overlay.

Add more languages
The Language selector shows your source language and an Add new language option, letting you build subtitle versions in additional languages from the same video — useful when the same content has to reach audiences who speak different languages.
Good to know: Translations are AI-powered, and even strong AI occasionally slips — so give each new language a quick review. If something looks off (for example, a repeated word), delete that language and generate it again; a second pass usually clears it up. To remove a language, open the Language selector, hover over the language, and click the ✕ beside it — then use Add new language to re-translate. Your source language can’t be deleted, and every version stays fully editable.
Reuse and export
View past versions to revisit earlier subtitle versions instead of starting over.
Use the SRT export (Download subtitle text as .srt-file) to download subtitles for use elsewhere — for example uploading them to a video platform, or translating them in another tool and bringing them back in.
Produce the subtitled video
When the subtitles look right, use the Preview toggle to check their placement, then click Create video with subtitles. Mozaik renders a subtitled version and embeds the captions in both video formats — Landscape and Square.
Built for volume
Captioning is one of the most repetitive steps in video production. Because Mozaik auto-generates subtitles, keeps them editable, and exports SRT, a team can caption a whole series of videos in a fraction of the usual time — and reach more people while doing it.
